All Orbora jewelry is individually handcrafted and may include one or more of the following elements, as described in the Orbora website.

Gemstones – Only genuine precious and semi-precious stones are used in Orbora jewelry. They are hand picked by Gilly and sourced from all over the world. Occasional inclusions are an inherent characteristic of this natural product.

GoldGold is the most malleable and resistant to oxidation of all metals. It is possible to beat a single gram of gold into a sheet measuring a square meter. The purest form of gold is 24 karats (or parts), but in this state it is far too soft a metal for jewelry manufacture. Consequently it is alloyed with other metals for strength and variations in colour. Thus, 18k gold is 18 parts pure gold and and 6 parts other metals.

Gold vermeil (pronounced vehr-MAY) is Sterling silver which has been electroplated with gold (usually 22k or 24k). It is also known as silver gilt.

Gold fill14k gold which has been heat and pressure bonded to brass. Unlike gold plate, gold filled findings have ten times the thickness of gold and are extremely durable and tarnish resistant.

Sterling silver92.5 percent pure silver.

Hill Tribe silver beads from Thailand and Bali. A slightly softer metal than Sterling silver which has a consequently higher silver content (typically 95-99%).

Pearls – Cultured pearls from freshwater molluscs.

Bone – Natural and dyed bone from India.
